About this exercise

A seated shoulder stretch in which a resistance band held behind the back creates a gentle stretch across the front of the shoulder, chest, and biceps. It improves shoulder flexion range of motion and relieves tightness accumulated from pressing movements.

How to Perform

  • Sit upright on a bench or the floor with legs extended or crossed
  • Hold a resistance band behind your back with both hands, gripping wider than shoulder-width
  • Keep your arms straight and gently pull the band ends apart to maintain slight tension
  • Lift your arms slightly backward and upward to feel a stretch across the front of your shoulders and chest
  • Hold the stretched position for the desired duration while breathing steadily
  • Slowly release and return to the starting position
