About this exercise

The resistance band Romanian deadlift targets the hamstrings and glutes through a controlled hip-hinge movement using a resistance band for constant tension. It is an excellent alternative to barbell RDLs for building posterior chain strength at home or when traveling.

How to Perform

  • Stand on the center of the resistance band with feet hip-width apart, holding one end in each hand in front of your thighs
  • Engage your core and keep a slight bend in your knees throughout the movement
  • Hinge at the hips and push them back, lowering your hands toward mid-shin while keeping your back flat
  • Continue lowering until you feel a strong stretch in your hamstrings, keeping the band taut
  • Drive your hips forward and squeeze your glutes to return to the upright starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
