About this exercise

The Resistance Band Elbow Plank with Single-Arm Pulldown combines an isometric elbow plank with a unilateral lat pulldown using a resistance band anchored overhead. It challenges anti-rotation core stability while simultaneously developing back width and shoulder strength on one side at a time.

How to Perform

  • Anchor a resistance band at a high point in front of you and assume an elbow plank position facing the anchor
  • Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels, bracing your core throughout
  • Grip the band with one hand and extend that arm fully toward the anchor
  • Pull the band down toward your hip in a controlled arc, keeping your elbow close to your body
  • Pause briefly at the bottom, then slowly return the arm to the start position without rotating your torso
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch arms
