MediumHamstrings

About this exercise

A variation of the Nordic hamstring curl where a resistance band provides upward assistance during the lowering phase, making this demanding eccentric exercise more accessible. The band reduces the load at the hardest point of the movement, helping build the hamstring strength required to progress to unassisted Nordics.

How to Perform

  • Kneel on a soft surface and anchor your feet firmly or have a partner hold them down
  • Loop a resistance band around a fixed point above you and place it around your hips or chest to provide upward assistance
  • With your body in a straight line from knees to head, begin leaning forward under control
  • Lower your torso toward the floor as slowly as possible, allowing your knees to extend
  • Use your hands to catch yourself just before reaching the floor
  • Push off the floor to assist returning to the starting position
  • Reset to kneeling and repeat for the desired number of repetitions
