About this exercise

An advanced pull-up variation where the bar is brought behind the head to touch the back of the neck, placing greater emphasis on the upper lats and trapezius. Requires significant shoulder mobility and should be approached with caution.

How to Perform

  • Grip the pull-up bar with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width, palms facing away
  • Hang at full arm extension with your body straight
  • Pull your elbows down and back, leaning your head slightly forward
  • Continue pulling until the bar touches the back of your neck
  • Pause briefly at the top, squeezing the lats and upper back
  • Lower yourself in a controlled manner to a full hang
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
