Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the PVC Good Morning.

EasyHamstrings

About this exercise

The PVC Good Morning uses a lightweight PVC pipe across the upper back to groove the good-morning hip-hinge pattern with zero load. It trains hamstring flexibility, lower-back stability, and the motor pattern needed for barbell good mornings and deadlifts.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and place a PVC pipe across your upper traps, holding it wide with both hands
  • Stand tall with a neutral spine and a soft bend in the knees
  • Brace your core, then push your hips back while hinging at the hip — do not round your lower back
  • Lower your torso until you feel a stretch in the hamstrings or until your back begins to round
  • Drive your hips forward to return to the upright position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps, focusing on keeping the spine neutral throughout
