PVC Front Rack Stretch

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the PVC Front Rack Stretch.

EasyRear shoulders

About this exercise

The PVC Front Rack Stretch uses a lightweight PVC pipe to open up the shoulders, lats, and wrists into the front-rack position required for cleans and front squats. Holding the pipe in a front-rack grip and applying gentle pressure helps release restrictions in the shoulder capsule and forearms.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright and hold a PVC pipe with a front-rack grip: elbows high, upper arms parallel to the floor, pipe resting across the fingertips at collarbone height
  • Position your feet shoulder-width apart with a slight squat to allow the torso to remain upright
  • Actively push your elbows up and forward to deepen the stretch in the lats and shoulders
  • Hold the end-range position, breathing steadily for the desired duration
  • Relax and release, then repeat for additional sets
