About this exercise

A dynamic standing exercise performed with hands interlaced behind the head in the "prisoner" position, alternately driving each knee up to hip height or higher. It elevates heart rate while engaging the core and hip flexors, making it an effective conditioning drill.

How to Perform

  • Stand tall with feet hip-width apart and hands clasped behind your head, elbows wide
  • Lift your right knee toward your chest as high as possible while staying upright
  • Lower the right foot and immediately drive the left knee up
  • Continue alternating legs in a controlled but rhythmic cadence
  • Keep your torso upright and core engaged throughout — avoid leaning back
  • Complete the prescribed number of reps per leg or total
