About this exercise

The Planked Side Toe Tap is a core stability exercise performed from a high plank position. Alternating tapping each foot out to the side challenges the obliques and deep stabilizers of the trunk while demanding constant anti-rotation control.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and your body in a straight line
  • Engage your core and glutes to prevent your hips from rotating or dropping
  • Tap your right foot out to the right side, keeping your hips level
  • Return your right foot to the starting position
  • Tap your left foot out to the left side in the same controlled manner
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
  • Keep your breathing steady and avoid letting your lower back sag throughout the movement
