About this exercise

The Plank Jack on a Padded Stool is a core and conditioning exercise performed in a plank position with hands on the floor and feet elevated on a padded stool, executing a jumping-jack motion with the legs. Elevating the feet on the stool increases the core challenge and hip flexor demand compared to a standard plank jack on the floor.

How to Perform

  • Place a padded stool behind you and assume a high plank position with your hands on the floor
  • Place both feet together on top of the padded stool
  • Brace your core and keep your hips level — do not let them rise or sag
  • Jump both feet outward to a wide position on the stool
  • Immediately jump both feet back together on the stool
  • Maintain a tight plank throughout and keep your arms straight
  • Repeat the leg movement for the desired number of reps
