About this exercise

A flowing bodyweight movement that combines a push-up in a pike position with a transition into a cobra extension. The exercise trains upper-body pushing strength through the chest and shoulders while also mobilizing the spine and stretching the hip flexors and core.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank position with your hips raised into an inverted V (pike position)
  • Bend your elbows and lower your head toward the floor in an arc
  • As your chest nears the ground, shift your body forward and press up into a cobra position by extending your arms and arching your lower back
  • Pause briefly in cobra with hips low and chest lifted
  • Push back through a reverse arc, lifting your hips back into the pike position
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps
