Peroneals Stretch

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Peroneals Stretch.

EasyCalves

About this exercise

A targeted static stretch for the peroneal (fibularis) muscles that run along the outer side of the lower leg. These muscles control foot eversion and ankle stability; tight peroneals can contribute to lateral ankle problems and reduced mobility.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the floor with your legs extended or kneel on a soft surface
  • Cross one foot over the opposite knee so the outer edge of the foot faces upward
  • Gently grip the foot and slowly invert it — turning the sole inward — until you feel a stretch along the outer lower leg
  • Hold the position, breathing steadily
  • Release slowly and switch sides

About the Peroneals Stretch

The Peroneals Stretch is a foundational movement that builds strength and muscle through controlled, progressive overload. Train it 1 to 2 times per week with 3 to 5 working sets per session, gradually adding weight or reps as form holds up.
