MediumGlutesQuadriceps

About this exercise

A dumbbell goblet squat with a deliberate pause at the bottom of each rep, increasing time under tension for the quads and glutes. The pause reinforces proper squat depth, an upright torso, and eliminates momentum from the movement.

How to Perform

  • Hold a dumbbell vertically at chest height with both hands cupping the top end
  • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and toes turned slightly outward
  • Brace your core and push your hips back, then bend your knees to descend into a squat
  • Lower until your thighs are parallel to the floor or deeper
  • Hold the bottom position briefly, keeping tension in your legs
  • Drive through your heels to return to the starting position
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
