About this exercise

Palm Up / Palm Down Rotation is a shoulder and forearm mobility drill that trains the full range of forearm rotation — supination (palm up) and pronation (palm down) — with the arms extended in front of the body. It improves rotator cuff coordination and forearm flexibility.

How to Perform

  • Stand or sit tall with your spine neutral
  • Extend both arms straight out in front of you at shoulder height, palms facing down
  • Slowly rotate your forearms so your palms face upward (supination)
  • Pause briefly, then rotate your forearms back so your palms face downward (pronation)
  • Keep your upper arms and shoulders as still as possible throughout the movement
  • Perform the rotation in a slow, controlled manner
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
