About this exercise

The Otis-Up is an advanced core exercise that challenges your abdominals and hip flexors by combining a simultaneous torso raise and leg lift into a full V-sit movement. Starting flat on your back with arms overhead, you fold your body upward to reach your hands toward your feet at the top.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back on a mat with your legs fully extended and arms stretched overhead
  • Engage your core, then simultaneously raise your torso and both legs off the floor
  • Keep your legs as straight as possible as you rise, reaching your hands toward your feet
  • Form a V-shape with your body at the peak of the movement, balancing briefly on your sit bones
  • Slowly lower your torso and legs back to the starting position in a controlled manner
  • Breathe out as you rise and breathe in as you lower
