About this exercise

A seated machine isolation exercise extending one knee at a time against the resistance. Working one leg per repetition gives the quadriceps a direct, controlled stimulus and helps even out strength differences between the legs.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the machine with your back against the pad and one shin behind the padded lever, the other foot resting on the floor
  • Grip the handles for stability
  • Extend the working knee until the leg is fully straightened, squeezing the quadriceps
  • Lower the lever back under control
  • Complete the repetitions, then switch legs
