About this exercise

The Neutral Wrist Roller trains both the flexor and extensor forearm muscles by winding a weighted rope around a rod while holding the wrists in a neutral (thumbs-up) grip. It builds grip strength and forearm hypertrophy through a full range of winding and unwinding motion.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright holding a wrist roller at shoulder height with both hands in a neutral grip, thumbs pointing up
  • Keep your arms extended forward and parallel to the floor throughout the movement
  • Slowly roll the weight up by alternating wrist movements — one wrist rolls forward while the other rolls back
  • Continue rolling until the rope is fully wound and the weight reaches the rod
  • Reverse the motion and slowly lower the weight back to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the prescribed number of rolls
