About this exercise

A core-intensive exercise that uses towels under the feet on a smooth floor to create a sliding mountain climber motion. Eliminating the impact of the traditional mountain climber, the sliding variation increases hip flexor range of motion and places sustained tension on the abs and shoulders.

How to Perform

  • Place a towel under each foot on a smooth, hard floor and get into a high plank position with arms straight and hands directly under the shoulders
  • Brace your core so your body forms a straight line from head to heels
  • Slide one foot forward, drawing the knee toward the same-side elbow, keeping your hips level
  • Slide that foot back to the starting position, then immediately slide the other foot forward
  • Alternate legs in a continuous, controlled rhythm for the prescribed number of reps or duration
