About this exercise

A shoulder mobility and activation exercise performed standing, where you raise your arms out to the sides and alternate the palm orientation throughout the movement. Switching between palms-down and palms-up positions engages all three heads of the deltoid and improves shoulder joint awareness.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright with feet shoulder-width apart and arms relaxed at your sides
  • Raise both arms out to the sides until they are parallel to the floor
  • With arms held at shoulder height, rotate your palms to face upward
  • Hold briefly, then rotate your palms to face downward
  • Continue alternating palm positions for the desired number of repetitions
  • Lower your arms back to your sides in a controlled manner
