About this exercise

The medicine ball twist turn slam combines a full-body rotation with an overhead slam, training rotational power, core stability, and explosive strength. The pivot and twist engage the obliques and hips before the ball is driven into the ground.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet hip-width apart, holding the medicine ball at chest height
  • Rotate your torso and hips to one side, winding up with the ball
  • Pivot on your back foot as you reverse the rotation explosively
  • Drive the ball overhead and slam it into the ground with maximum force
  • Pick the ball up and alternate sides each rep
