About this exercise

An explosive full-body exercise that combines a deep squat with an overhead throw of a medicine ball against a wall. The movement demands power from the legs and hips to drive the ball upward, making it an effective conditioning drill for developing total-body power.

How to Perform

  • Stand about one arm's length from a wall holding a medicine ball at chest height
  • Place your feet shoulder-width apart with toes slightly turned out
  • Descend into a deep squat while keeping the ball close to your chest
  • Drive explosively through your heels to stand up rapidly
  • Use the momentum from your legs and hips to throw the ball against the wall above head height
  • Catch the ball as it rebounds off the wall
  • Absorb the catch by immediately dropping into the next squat to continue the movement
  • Keep your chest up and core braced throughout each rep
