About this exercise

The medicine ball roll plank is a core stability exercise performed with both hands on a medicine ball. Rolling the ball forward and back under a rigid plank dramatically increases the demand on the abs and shoulder stabilisers compared to a standard plank.

How to Perform

  • Start in a high plank with both hands gripping the sides of a medicine ball
  • Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Slowly roll the ball forward, extending your arms while maintaining a neutral spine
  • Pause briefly at the extended position, then roll the ball back under your chest
  • Repeat for the desired number of reps while keeping hips level throughout
