About this exercise

The medicine ball plank jack is a dynamic core and cardio exercise performed with both hands on a medicine ball. Jumping the feet in and out while balancing on the unstable ball dramatically increases core and shoulder stabilisation demand.

How to Perform

  • Begin in a high plank position with both hands placed on top of a medicine ball
  • Keep your core tight and your body in a straight line from head to heels
  • Jump both feet out wide simultaneously, as in the lower half of a jumping jack
  • Immediately jump your feet back together to the starting position
  • Continue jumping your feet out and in for the desired number of reps or time
