About this exercise

A powerful conditioning exercise that develops explosive strength through the entire posterior chain, core, and shoulders. The ball is raised overhead and then slammed forcefully into the ground, training the lat pull-down motion and abdominal bracing under high speed.

How to Perform

  • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart holding a medicine ball at waist level
  • Raise the ball overhead with both hands, fully extending the arms and rising onto the toes
  • Explosively drive the ball downward toward the floor with maximum force, engaging the lats and abs
  • Hinge at the hips and bend the knees slightly as you slam the ball
  • Allow the ball to bounce or pick it up from the floor immediately
  • Return to the fully extended overhead position and repeat
