About this exercise

A machine isolation exercise for the rear deltoids performed seated facing the machine with the chest against the pad. From handles in front of the body the arms sweep backward at shoulder height in a wide arc, targeting the rear delts with assistance from the upper-back muscles.

How to Perform

  • Sit facing the machine with your chest against the pad and grip the handles in front of you at shoulder height
  • Keep a slight bend in your elbows
  • Sweep your arms backward in a wide arc as far as your shoulders allow
  • Squeeze the rear delts and shoulder blades at the end position
  • Return the handles forward under control and repeat
