Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lying Twist Toe Touch.

EasyAbsObliques

About this exercise

A floor exercise where you lie on your back, lift your legs, and reach across your body to touch the opposite toe, combining a crunch motion with a rotational twist to target the abs and obliques together. The alternating cross-body reach maximizes oblique engagement with each repetition.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with your legs raised perpendicular to the floor
  • Extend your arms out to your sides at shoulder level
  • Lift your shoulders off the floor and reach your right hand toward your left foot
  • Rotate through your torso, not just your arm, to maximize oblique engagement
  • Lower back down with control and repeat on the opposite side
  • Keep your legs as straight as possible throughout the movement
  • Breathe out as you reach and in as you return to the starting position
