About this exercise

The lying tuck up is a core exercise performed on the floor where you simultaneously raise your knees toward your chest and your upper body toward your knees. It effectively targets the rectus abdominis and deep core stabilizers through a combined crunch-and-knee-raise motion.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with legs extended and arms stretched overhead
  • Press your lower back into the floor and brace your core
  • Simultaneously lift your knees toward your chest and raise your upper body off the floor
  • Reach your hands toward your shins as you bring your knees and chest together
  • Hold the tucked position briefly, squeezing your abs
  • Slowly lower your upper body and legs back to the starting position under control
