Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lying Single Leg Hamstring Stretch against Wall.

EasyHamstrings

About this exercise

A passive flexibility exercise in which one leg is extended against a wall while the other rests flat on the floor, providing a sustained hamstring stretch without requiring active muscle effort. The wall acts as a prop to hold the leg at a fixed angle, making the stretch accessible and easy to progressively deepen.

How to Perform

  • Sit facing a wall and lower your back to the floor so that the back of one leg presses flat against the wall with the leg extended upward
  • Extend the opposite leg along the floor in a comfortable position
  • Flex the elevated foot by pulling the toes toward your shin to increase the stretch along the back of the thigh
  • Relax your hips as close to the wall as possible to deepen the angle
  • Breathe slowly and hold the position for the desired duration without forcing the leg further
  • Switch legs and repeat on the other side
