About this exercise

The Lying Side Stretch is a gentle floor-based stretch that targets the obliques, lateral lower back, and the muscles running along the side of the torso. It is ideal for cool-downs, morning routines, or any session focused on improving lateral flexibility.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back on the floor with your legs extended
  • Extend both arms overhead and clasp your hands together
  • Slowly shift your legs and arms together toward one side, creating a gentle curve through your whole body
  • Feel the stretch along the outer side of your torso and hip
  • Hold for the desired duration, then return to center
  • Repeat on the opposite side
