About this exercise

The Lying Side Reverse Crunch is a floor core exercise performed on your side that targets the obliques by drawing the knees toward the chest from a lateral position. It isolates the side abs with minimal strain on the neck or hip flexors.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side with your legs stacked and slightly bent, your bottom arm extended under your head for support
  • Place your top hand on the floor in front of your chest for stability
  • Engage your obliques and draw both knees toward your chest in a controlled crunch
  • Hold the contracted position for a brief moment
  • Slowly lower your legs back to the starting position without letting them touch the floor
  • Complete all reps on one side, then roll over and repeat on the other side
