About this exercise

The Lying Reverse Leg Extension is a bodyweight floor exercise targeting the hamstrings and glutes. Lying face down, you lift both legs off the floor by contracting the posterior chain, making it an effective move for developing lower body strength and hip extension control.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on the floor with your legs straight and arms extended in front or resting under your forehead
  • Keep your hips pressed firmly into the floor throughout the movement
  • Engage your glutes and hamstrings, then lift both legs off the floor simultaneously
  • Raise your legs as high as comfortable without arching your lower back excessively
  • Pause briefly at the top of the movement, squeezing your glutes
