About this exercise

A challenging core exercise performed lying on your back with your shoulders raised off the floor in an isometric crunch hold. While maintaining the raised position, you sweep both legs side to side in a windshield-wiper arc and simultaneously extend them, creating a double demand on the abdominals and obliques.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back and clasp your hands behind your head, then lift your shoulders off the floor and hold them there throughout the set
  • Raise both legs straight and lift them to roughly a 45-degree angle from the floor
  • Slowly rotate your legs together to one side in a wide windshield-wiper arc while extending them fully
  • Reverse the motion, returning through center and sweeping to the opposite side
  • Keep your lower back pressed into the floor and your shoulders raised on every rep
  • Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions
