About this exercise

A bodyweight back-strengthening exercise performed face-down on the floor. From a flat prone position, you simultaneously raise your extended arms and legs off the ground, creating a "V" shape with the body to target the lower back, glutes, and stabilizing muscles of the posterior chain.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on the floor with your arms extended straight overhead and legs straight behind you
  • Keep your forehead lightly resting on the floor or hovering just above it at the start
  • Simultaneously lift both your arms and both your legs off the floor, forming a "V" shape at the hips
  • Squeeze your glutes and lower back at the top of the movement
  • Hold briefly, then lower your arms and legs back to the starting position with control
