About this exercise

The Lying Leg Tuck Hip Stretch is a supine flexibility exercise that targets the glutes and outer hip. You draw one knee across your body toward the opposite shoulder, using a gentle pull to deepen the stretch in the hip and glute of the tucked leg.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with both legs extended
  • Bend one knee and draw it up toward your chest
  • Grasp the knee or shin with both hands
  • Gently guide the knee across your body toward the opposite shoulder until you feel a stretch in your hip and glute
  • Keep your opposite leg and lower back relaxed on the floor
  • Hold the stretch for the desired duration, then switch legs
