Lying Hip Lift (on Stability Ball)

Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lying Hip Lift (on Stability Ball).

MediumGlutes

About this exercise

The lying hip lift on a stability ball is a glute bridge variation that introduces instability, requiring greater activation of the glutes, hamstrings, and core to maintain control. Elevating the feet on the ball increases the range of motion and makes the posterior chain work harder through the full movement.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with your arms at your sides, palms facing down for stability
  • Place both heels on top of the stability ball with your legs nearly straight
  • Brace your core and squeeze your glutes as you drive your hips upward
  • Lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to heels
  • Pause at the top and hold the contraction for one second
  • Slowly lower your hips back to the floor under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions
