About this exercise

The lying hip internal rotation is a floor mobility exercise targeting the internal hip rotators. Lying on your back with knees bent, you let one knee fall inward toward the floor to stretch and mobilize the deep hip muscles that control internal rotation of the hip joint.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back with knees bent at approximately 90 degrees and feet flat on the floor, placed wider than hip-width apart
  • Allow one knee to drop inward toward the floor, keeping your foot planted
  • Press the knee gently downward as far as comfortable without letting your hips rotate or lift
  • Hold the end-range position for the desired duration
  • Return the knee to the starting position under control
  • Perform all reps on one side, then switch legs
