About this exercise

A prone bodyweight exercise where you lie face down and hold an isometric rowing position with your elbows pulled back, chest lifted, and knees bent off the floor. It strengthens the mid and lower back, rear deltoids, and glutes simultaneously, making it a useful corrective and warm-up drill.

How to Perform

  • Lie face down on the floor with your arms extended forward and legs straight
  • Bend your knees and raise your feet off the floor
  • Pull both elbows back alongside your torso as if performing a rowing motion
  • Simultaneously lift your chest off the floor, squeezing your shoulder blades together
  • Hold this position with your glutes engaged and core braced
  • Lower back to the starting position to complete the repetition
