About this exercise

Lying Criss-Cross Legs is a floor exercise performed on your back in which you lift both legs a few inches off the ground and rapidly cross them over one another in a scissoring pattern. It targets the inner and outer thighs while engaging the lower abdominals and core for stability.

How to Perform

  • Lie flat on your back with your legs straight and your arms resting at your sides or placed under your lower back for support
  • Lift both legs off the floor, keeping them straight and angling them about 30–45 degrees
  • Cross your right leg over your left, then quickly switch so your left leg crosses over your right
  • Continue crossing the legs in a controlled, rhythmic alternating motion
  • Keep your lower back pressed into the floor and your core engaged throughout
  • Complete the desired number of repetitions before lowering your legs back to the floor
