EasyAbsGlutes

About this exercise

A floor-based Pilates-inspired exercise performed lying on your side, where you raise the top leg upward against gravity to target the outer thigh and glutes. The movement isolates the hip abductors and helps strengthen the lateral hip stabilisers.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your side on the floor with your body in a straight line
  • Rest your head on your lower arm or prop it up with your hand
  • Stack your feet and legs on top of each other
  • Brace your core to keep your hips stable and perpendicular to the floor
  • Slowly raise your top leg upward, leading with the heel, until you feel a contraction in the outer hip
  • Pause briefly at the top, then slowly lower your leg back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one side before rolling over to train the other leg
