About this exercise

A core-stability exercise that adds alternating single-leg lifts to the forearm plank position. Raising one leg at a time shifts the load asymmetrically, forcing the deep stabilisers and glutes to work harder to prevent hip rotation.

How to Perform

  • Begin in a forearm plank with elbows directly under your shoulders and your body forming a straight line from head to heels
  • Brace your core tightly and press both forearms firmly into the floor
  • Lift one leg straight up until your heel is roughly hip height, keeping your hips level and square
  • Hold for 1–2 seconds at the top, then lower the leg back to the starting position
  • Repeat with the opposite leg, alternating for the desired number of reps per side
