About this exercise

A leg press variation performed on a vertical lever machine where you lie on your back and press a weighted platform straight up overhead. This machine positions the load directly above you, placing high demand on the quadriceps and glutes while reducing lower-back strain.

How to Perform

  • Lie on your back on the machine pad and position your feet shoulder-width apart on the footplate above you
  • Unlock the safety handles and lower the platform toward your chest by bending your knees
  • Descend until your knees form roughly a 90-degree angle, keeping your lower back flat against the pad
  • Press the platform back up by extending your legs, without locking out the knees at the top
  • Maintain a controlled tempo throughout and re-engage the safety handles before dismounting
