About this exercise

The lever standing pec fly is a chest isolation exercise performed on a pec deck or lever fly machine while standing, allowing the pectorals to work through a full arc of adduction. Standing rather than seated shifts the stabilization demand to the core and lower body while keeping the focus on the mid-chest.

How to Perform

  • Adjust the machine handles to approximately shoulder height and stand centered between the pads or handles
  • Grip the handles with a neutral hand position, arms slightly bent, and step forward slightly for a stable stance
  • Brace your core and maintain a slight forward lean with a tall chest
  • Bring both handles together in front of your chest in a wide arc, squeezing the pectorals at the peak contraction
  • Hold the contracted position for a moment, then slowly return the handles to the starting position under control
  • Repeat for the desired number of repetitions without letting the weight stack touch between reps
