About this exercise

A machine-based unilateral exercise that isolates the glutes through a standing hip extension movement. Performed one leg at a time, it develops glute strength and helps improve hip stability and muscle symmetry.

How to Perform

  • Stand upright on the machine platform or near the lever pad, holding the support handles for balance
  • Position the working leg's pad just above the back of the knee or at the ankle
  • Brace your core and keep your torso slightly forward for balance
  • Extend the working leg rearward in a controlled arc, squeezing the glute at the top of the movement
  • Avoid arching the lower back excessively — let the hip do the work
  • Lower the leg back to the starting position with control and repeat for the desired reps before switching sides
