EasyShin

About this exercise

A machine-based isolation exercise that strengthens the tibialis anterior and surrounding shin muscles through controlled dorsiflexion. Performed seated with the toes hooked under a padded lever, it directly targets the often-neglected anterior lower leg muscles, which are important for ankle stability, shin splint prevention, and balanced calf development.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the machine and place the balls of your feet on the footrest with your toes hooked under the lever pad
  • Adjust the lever height so there is a comfortable range of motion for flexion
  • Begin with the toes pointing downward (plantarflexed position) as the starting point
  • Pull your toes up toward your shins as far as possible, contracting the tibialis anterior
  • Hold briefly at the top of the range, then slowly lower the toes back to the start
  • Keep the movement controlled and avoid swinging or using momentum
