About this exercise

The lever single arm shoulder press is a plate-loaded machine exercise that targets the front and lateral deltoids unilaterally. Training one side at a time exposes and corrects strength imbalances between shoulders while allowing each arm to move through its natural pressing arc.

How to Perform

  • Load the appropriate weight onto the machine and adjust the seat height so the handle is at shoulder level
  • Sit upright and grip the handle with one hand, keeping your elbow at roughly a 90-degree angle at the start
  • Brace your core and press the handle upward until your arm is fully extended overhead
  • Pause briefly at the top without locking out aggressively
  • Lower the handle with control back to the starting position
  • Complete all reps on one arm before switching to the other side
