About this exercise

The lever single arm reverse grip high row is a unilateral plate-loaded machine row performed with a supinated (underhand) grip, targeting the upper back and lats from a high angle. The reverse grip shifts emphasis toward the lower lats and biceps while allowing independent training of each side.

How to Perform

  • Set up at the plate-loaded T-bar row machine and select an appropriate weight
  • Stand or position yourself so that the high handle is accessible with one arm
  • Grip the handle with a reverse (underhand) grip with one hand
  • Brace your core and hinge forward slightly at the hips
  • Pull the handle toward your upper torso, driving your elbow up and back
  • Squeeze your upper back and lats at the top of the movement
  • Slowly lower the weight back to the starting position with full arm extension
  • Complete all reps on one side before switching to the other
