About this exercise

A plate-loaded seated wide-grip pulldown machine exercise that targets the latissimus dorsi through a vertical pulling motion. The wide overhand grip maximizes lat width development and increases the stretch at the top of each repetition.

How to Perform

  • Sit at the plate-loaded wide pulldown machine and position the thigh pads snugly over your legs
  • Grasp the wide handles with an overhand grip, hands placed wider than shoulder width
  • Retract your shoulder blades and pull the handles down toward your upper chest
  • Squeeze your lats at the bottom of the movement and hold briefly
  • Slowly allow the handles to rise back to the starting position with arms fully extended
