About this exercise

The lever seated single arm wide lat pulldown isolates each side of the latissimus dorsi independently using a hammer-style lever machine. Pulling one arm at a time allows a greater range of motion and helps correct side-to-side muscle imbalances. The wide grip emphasizes the outer lats for a broader back.

How to Perform

  • Sit in the machine and secure your knees under the pad
  • Reach up and grip the wide handle with one hand, arm fully extended
  • Retract your shoulder blade and pull the handle down toward your upper chest
  • Squeeze your lat at the bottom of the pull
  • Slowly return the handle to the starting position under control
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch to the other arm
