MediumRear shouldersTrapezius

About this exercise

A unilateral back exercise performed on a lever or plate-loaded seated row machine, allowing each side to be trained independently. This isolates the lats and mid-back more effectively than a bilateral row and helps correct muscle imbalances between sides.

How to Perform

  • Sit at a lever seated row machine and set the appropriate weight
  • Plant your feet flat on the footrests and grip the handle with one hand using a neutral grip
  • Sit upright with a slight forward lean at the hips, chest up, core braced
  • Pull the handle back toward your hip, driving your elbow behind you and squeezing your lat at the end of the movement
  • Pause briefly at the fully contracted position
  • Slowly extend your arm back to the start, maintaining control throughout
  • Complete all reps on one side, then switch arms
