Step by step instructions, muscle activation and variants for the Lever Seated One Leg Curl.

MediumHamstrings

About this exercise

The machine seated single leg curl isolates one hamstring at a time on the seated leg curl machine, allowing you to correct strength imbalances between legs and achieve a strong contraction at both the shortened and lengthened positions of the hamstring. Training one leg at a time also improves mind-muscle connection.

How to Perform

  • Sit on the seated leg curl machine and adjust the back pad so your knees align with the machine's pivot point
  • Position one leg under the ankle roller and allow the other leg to rest free to the side
  • Grip the side handles and sit upright with your back pressed against the back pad
  • Curl the active leg downward as far as the machine allows, squeezing the hamstring at full contraction
  • Slowly return to the starting position under control, avoiding letting the weight stack slam
  • Complete all reps on one leg before switching to the other
